girltaylor:

In light of tonight’s AMA Awards, I thought it appropriate to remind the general public that it is possible for artists to sing well live.  Back in the glory days of teen pop (circa 1997-2002), pop artists could hold their own at award shows.  Today’s array of bad vocalists is inexcusable.

Once upon a time, there was a boy band called N*SYNC.  Here is a nearly-acapella version of their swoon-inducing wedding ballad, “This I Promise You.”  This clip is from “N*SYNC Live! The Atlantis Concert,” which aired on CBS as a Thanksgiving Day special in 2001.

In 2000, N*SYNC’s sophomore album “No Strings Attached” sold over 1 million copies in 1 day.  Today, people are aghast that Taylor Swift could sell over 1 million copies in a week.  These are dark times, my friends.

Preach it, Colleen.

Also, I remember when this first aired on TV. That aquarium acapella scene is forever ingrained in my mind.
