lunchboxangel:

gentlewomenoftheroad:

No, seriously. There’s a group of girls that we keep running into at shows and they always try to one-up us because THEY saw the guys (on flippin’ accident) back in ‘08 when they were in the UK.  Whatever.  I still have a besties picture and I’m pretty sure they do not.

…I’m feisty.  But I love you guys! -D x

Hello! I think I’m one of the girls you are speaking of, even though I have never met you in my life! (You may or may not have met one of my friends at some point.)

Some things I need to clear up:

  • I have no intention of trying to one up anyone. The past two years of my life haven’t been the easiest but following the boys has brought me a lot of joy…I like sharing my experiences with the band with people because they’ve all just been so crazy and I can’t even believe it myself.
  • First time we saw them wasn’t in the UK, but in the states. Yes it was an accident (they were opening for Laura and Johnny) but does that somehow invalidate my ~fandom credibility~ or something?
  • I have no idea what a “besties” picture is but the photos I have with the guys in the band are more than enough to make me happy.

I’m proud that I’ve had the opportunity to follow the boys since their first visit to the states and it’s INSANE how much they’ve exploded in such a short time. I can’t lie, I do feel a bit possessive and I’m worried about what the next tour will bring…but that’s just the nature of the beast.

That said, though…it’s insane the fandom has gotten to this low level at this point in time. It’s a fucking competition now? Really? Well, I’ll make a note of that and bow out gracefully before things get even more nasty than they already are. This is too ridiculous to deal with and I won’t let insane fandom nonsense ruin my love of this band or take over my life.

Side note: Second time I’ve gotten called out on Twitter (unprovoked) in relation to Mumford & Sons. It’s just fucking laughable.

Ok, this isn’t even my battle to fight and I’m not trying to get in the middle of whatever’s going on, but there was something about what was said that just doesn’t mix with me. You make such a big deal about my lady lunchboxangel having seen them initially “by accident,” as if seeing them in this way discredits her.. Are you any better? How did you hear about them? Because I can guarantee you, there is no way that you could have “planned” to come across their music. Whether you saw them at a show and then became a fan, heard their music online, saw them on tv, were told about them by a friend, etc etc etc, it doesn’t matter… Finding out about a band, ANY band, is always an accidental thing, completely unplanned. You are no better.
